Md. Abdullah All Mamun, Daffodil International University, Dept. of Textile Engineering(4th year). Most of the textile industries in Bangladesh are Dhaka and Chittagong based. The environment of these two cities becomes polluted and Dhaka city is extremely over populated. With the thinking of pollution and environment we need to think a new textile industrial area in Bangladesh because we can not avoid our textile sector. Our country is zigzagged with so many rivers and the export oriented product is exported by using ship that means by using water transport. So I think South Bengal will be one of the most suitable area for new “Textile Industrial Area”. For an industrial area the most concern matter is the infrastructural situation of this area. After analysis we know that in Bhola 0.5938 T.C.F is stocked where as 0.3340 T.C.F gas will be available.At Charkajol (In Golachipa) there are more gas has been found. By utilizing these gas and making a network gas can be provide in the industrial areas. Again there is a possibility to make a new gas network in south Bengal by using Padma Bridge. At Borhanuddin(In Bhola)there is a34.5 MW gas based electric power plant named "Venture Energy Resources Limited (A concern of Sinha-Medlar group)" which is using 10 million cubic ft everyday. Also there is a plan of stablishing 150 MW power plant is still running.Government takes some steps to establish more electric power houses in South Bengal and by diversifying more electric power station electricity can ensured in the industrial area. Gas, water and air can be used as raw material since water and flow wind is available in this area. Already an experimental air based electric power station present in Noakhali. The communication will be mostly river based.Meghna,Tetulia,Burisshar,Bishkhali, Andharmanik,Lohalia and many more river are directly connected with Bay of Bengal.The depth of these rivers are satisfactory both in winter and summer season. We can use lighter ship to carry the product to Chittagong and Mongla sea port. Even by proper digging of the river we can use heavy ship in South Bengal since Meghna and Tetulia (biggest river in Bangladesh) present in South Bengal. Again we can use road since direct road connection present with Mongla sea port and after Padma Bridge with Dhaka. Again there is possibility to set up rail way communication as the blessing of Padma Bridge. The main thing is deep sea port which will be set up near south Bengal. Most of the people in South Bengal are below poverty line. Because almost no industrial area in South Bengal. This industrial area will be a great opportunity for them. Again some of the areas are comparatively educated area in Bangladesh. At present Borguna, Bauphal are some of the most educated area in Bangladesh . Thou the river water are salty but the deep layer land water is better and very available. By taking proper treatment salty river water can also be used. Some recommendations also should be taken such as: • South Bengal is affected by frequent cyclone, flood and river breaking. So the industries should have enough infrastructural protection against these. • Humidity in the air is comparatively higher and the manufacturer should be concerned about this. • Government should make different EPZs in south Bengal. • Government should make more research and development for gas and other petroleum resources. • Government, banks and investors should come forward for establishing technical textile industries as well as new industrial area. The dream of South Bengal Textile Industrial Area is not irrelevant because there is a Jute Mill in Patuakhali on the bank of Lohalia River and Anchor Cement Factory on the bank of Kirtankhola River.South Bengal is also famous fir ship building industry. All of they use lighter ship for transport. From these examples the idea was generated in my mind. I also the son of South Bengal and I love my region as well as Bangladesh so much. I think my idea is not only important for my area but also for Bangladesh Textile sector.
