Feedback of Kuakata Beach: Sunrise & Sunset As a part of training in National Institute of Mass Communication we, a group of 15 officers, had visited Kuakata in January, 2009 (you know, winter is the best time to reach there). This is the only seaside in the world from where one can take pleasure in the pleasant sight of both the sunup and the sundown scenes. It was very fascinating and exhilarating for me, mostly to see how people live there, their everyday life and of course to stopover some prehistoric places. Kuakata, locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea) is an atypical scenic beauty pustule on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. The beach is 10 Kilometers in length and 2 kilometers in breadth. The long beach of Kuakata, lined by coconut trees, is a safe haven for migratory winter birds. It is a place of pilgrimage for the Hindu and Buddhist community. The journey to Kuakata from Dhaka by road is long and distressful. So we choose vessel from Dhaka to Barisal then, the rest by road. There is highway between Dhaka and Patuakhali district headquarters. Accessible by road, water or air transport upto Barisal. Then one may take a trip by road or water to Kuakata or Patuakhali. BRTC has introduced straight automobile service from Dhaka to Kuakata passing through Barisal. In addition that, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, National Tourism Organization may arrange guided package trip from Dhaka to Kuakata on demand. Government has also considered forming a cultural village in the region of the beach based on the socio-cultural life of the tribal people living there and opening of a variety of sports including water sports in the beach area. As we are government officer we have residential arrangement in Zila parishad Duckbanglow. It is in the vicinity of the beach on the main road side. The tour was for 4 days. In the tour, we have some delighted new fishes like 'Lariya' & 'Bhogni'- attention-grabbing names I should say. Intended for watching daybreak we went to a site name 'Gongamoti'. It's a remarkable place. To me, it is a more stunning place than the 'Inani beach' in Cox's Bazar. We reached there after a long and painstaking journey. But after watching sunset & sunrise we were besieged with joy. Will the tourism department carry out reconstruction measures for betterment of wretched condition of road to Kuakata. Everyday, we sat in the shade of our full-size sun umbrella, viewing the birds and at the end of the day watched the most amazing sunset. Nightlife is impressive and foodstuff and drink is economical. There I find special drink named “Mohua”. It was made locally by “Rakhain” tribal. It is somewhat intoxicant. It is only 10 Tk per peg. While in the beach, I maintain my spot in the sand, close my eyes, and calm down. Take a deep lungful of air and let strain and reality glide away. It’s a relaxed evening with a light wind coming off the ocean. I realize that, with the hustle and bustle of work, the Kuakata Beach has always been a getaway from average monotonous life. There is a temple at Kalapara where a effigy of Goutom Buddha is established and two wells of 200 years old. We also visited Fatrar Char. It belongs to Borguna District. You have to go there by boat. We take snapshot at various places and time and also with different viewpoint. We backed from Kuakata with a full of enjoyment. It took 10 hours to back to Dhaka by road. After that vacation I persuade others to have a Tour de Kuakata. It is difficult to find a holiday spot like Kuakata that is so soothing and naturally satisfying.
