Yahoo News named a new editor in chief on Monday: Megan Liberman, the deputy news editor of the New York Times.
Liberman, pictured below, will "lead a major expansion of Yahoo News, bringing in new voices and defining features for the site," according to a Yahoo blog post announcing the move. At Yahoo, Liberman will "focus primarily on original reporting, social news gathering, video and live events coverage."

The post credited Liberman for driving the Times' "most successful digital initiatives," including its blog network and Nate Silver's multi-platform presence during the 2012 elections. She is also credited with launching the newspaper's parenting blog, Motherlode.
Before her most recent post, Liberman was deputy editor for the New York Times Magazine. Liberman joins another Times defector at Yahoo News, former op-ed columnist Virginia Heffernan, who joined Yahoo News last year as a national correspondent.
Yahoo's previous editor in chief, Hillary Frey, left in March. She is currently the editorial director of news at NBCNews.com.
