Yahoo's chief operating officer is leaving after just more than a year on the job, the company revealed in an SEC filing Wednesday afternoon.
Henrique de Castro joined Yahoo in October 2012 after previously working as a top exec at Google. De Castro was CEO Marissa Mayer's biggest early hire and a notable poach from her former employer.
De Castro was considered important enough to Yahoo that he actually received more compensation than Mayer in his first year. Yahoo paid de Castro $39 million in 2012 compared to $36.6 million for Mayer.
Rumors circulated for months that de Castro might be pushed out from Yahoo. He was reportedly under pressure to improve Yahoo's advertising prospects and found himself clashing with Mayer.
Yahoo did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
De Castro's last day at the company will be January 16.
