Line, the popular messaging app developed by Japan’s Naver, has just received a new update that adds several major features.
First off, the update adds support for video calls. Finally, after what seem like eons of other messaging apps already offering the feature, the ability to make video calls has made its way to Line.
Just select any of your friends in the friends list and tap Video Call to talk with your friend in virtual face-to-face. Alternatively, you can access the pull-down menu in a chatroom and tap Free Call to video-call with your friend in the same room.
In a chatroom, you can now also send short videos to your friends using the new Snap Movie function. This lets you record a short video by pressing the screen, choosing background music from Line’s selection and sending your movie to friends.
You can also now use the new Albums function in chatrooms to create and edit photo albums with a friend or group of friends. Only members of the chatroom may create albums or add and delete photos.
The latest update to Line also improves the Timeline Home feature to allow privacy settings for individual posts and adds a function to delete users from the Blocked Users and Hidden Users lists.
The new version of Line is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later.
With its latest update, Line has also been optimized and redesigned for iOS 7.
