It might sound unusual for a robot bartender to whip up cocktails in the kitchen as you come home from work, but a new concept called the Monsieur could make this the new norm.
Similar to a Keurig coffee machine — but with alcohol and a full, colorful touchscreen menu — the Monieur creates mixed drinks on demand.

Here's how it works: you load the alcohol of your choice (and mixers such as orange juice and cranberry juice) into the back of the system. It will then create a customized menu based on whatever you put in. Choices for mixed drinks then appear on the touchscreen. After selecting the one you want, you can select if you want the drink strong, medium or light.

You can also select from 12 theme packages, from tiki bar to Irish pub, so you can offer customized drinks for parties. Each theme includes a cocktail list of 25 drinks. There's also a feature that lets you create your own cocktails based on what you're in the mood for.
The Monsieur is smart. It knows when you come home late and might want a double, and picks up when you're with someone else (noticing more than one mobile device on the Wi-Fi network), so it can suggest if you want two drinks instead of one. Creepy or awesome? You decide.

But like a good friend, it monitors how much you're drinking (via the accompanying app). The Monsieur can estimate your blood alcohol level and even help you get a cab.
The system can also be programmed to send alerts when ingredients are low. And if you want it to go ahead and make those purchases for you through a liquor delivery service, it can do that too.
The device has recently been added to crowdfunding site Kickstarter. Earlybird backers will receive a shipment as early as December 2013 and other pledges have a ship date of spring 2014.
There are two models — one for $1,499 with a four-liquid container capacity, each holding 30 ounces, or an eight-container version for $2,699.
