The United States Capitol was on lockdown Thursday afternoon after gunfire rang out near the building.
Multiple news outlets reported the lockdown, while eyewitnesses began documenting the incident on Twitter around 2:30 p.m. ET. Chris Moody, a political reporter for Yahoo, was at the scene of the shooting.

Cops were chasing a black car near the Capitol building. They cornered the car and that's when shots rang out.
