History repeats itself!

Well, I did my SSC in 1985 and HSC (Commerce group) in 1987 and then got admission in B.Com (Hons.) Accounting Dept. of Dhaka University on July 10, 1988. I left D.U. and got admitted to B.Com (Hons.) at Delhi University, New Delhi, India. This university ranked 393 in the QS World University ranking (2012). Later on, I did my Master of Commerce (Accounting) from Griffith University which ranked 346 in the world (2012). Since I studied Dhaka University for nearly six months I can tell you the real differences between these universities. First of all, the medium of instructions were not in English at Dhaka University. Same Lecturer prepared question papers and also checked by the same person. No research work done by the Faculty! However, during our time passing rate of SSC were 37% in 1985 and 39% for HSC in 1987. Total of 500 students got Star marks (75% or above) from Dhaka board. I was one of them. At present what is happening in the name of education is known as ‘Mockery Of Education.’ Ever heard of student vote bank for the political party in other countries? By the way, I was a Faculty of Business Department in IUBAT, Uttara Model Town for nearly one year (2012). I have seen majority of my colleagues (around 90%) giving A+ to students just to satisfy the Vice Chancellor (who happened to be an Ex-Program Director of IBA, Dhaka University way back late 90s). This so called V.C. making money illegally. There is no Bachelor of Nursing recognition by BNC and UGC. But he admitted many students in this course and some of them from Nepal, India & Pakistan. Now their fate is uncertain! In addition, he put Advanced Accounting subjects (e.g., Auditing, Taxation, Cost Accounting & A/C for Mgt. Control) for THM students (Tourism and Hospitality Management) in their course outlines. Moreover, this VC also collects money from the Faculty too. When the Faculty is being recruited he asks them to deposit two months equivalent money (which is sometimes non refundable due to undue circumstances). This so called VC of IUBAT is proud of establishing one of the pioneering of Private University in Bangladesh (1992). Therefore, haphazard situation does exist in our education, social, economic and political life of Bangladesh. To sum up, there is no escape route other than to jump off to the Bay of Bengal which is located to the south of this country.
