6 Coolest Co-Op Games for Xbox One

You've come to know and love the peashooters and sunflowers of the original Plants vs. Zombies (and you've probably logged more hours with them than you care to admit). With the Xbox One, you can take this delightful tower defense game to the big screen. Play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare online alongside other plants or as part of the zombie horde. The game will also offer an online co-op for four players, in addition to an offline split screen co-op just for the Xbox One.
Available Spring 2014 ($39.99).
Remember when you played in the sandbox with your friends as a kid? Remember how you built beautiful castles and staged epic battles? Project Spark is that same sandbox, but rather than grains of sand, pixels are your playthings. This game lets you create whatever wild game world you want, with a unique look and your own set of rules. For co-op, you can share your creations with friends or work on the same game together.
Available for Xbox One beta January 2014.
With the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on the new generation of consoles, the crew at Activision and Infinity Ward have made huge leaps in how you work with and against other players. The newest entry in the franchise has seven new multiplayer modes and 20 new killstreaks. Ghosts is also making a first foray into dynamic environments, so you can blow up a gas station or flood a map to change the course of a match.
Available Nov. 5, 2013 ($59.99).
The next generation of consoles is opening new possibilities in the world of driving games. Rather than simply push for better and better times on set courses, developers are blending single player and multiplayer driving with an open world experience. Need for Speed Rivals is one such example, and it will be available just days before the Xbox One launch. This game lets you cross into your friends' games, giving a co-op edge to the wild chases and competitions on the street.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($59.99).
Pirates? Stealth? Multiplayer? You can have it all in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. The multiplayer gameplay feels more like a mind game than a show of brute strength. On top of the free-for-all and team options of previous titles, Black Flag lets you team up with other players for a co-op experience in the Wolfpack mode. Outthink your enemies and strategize with your friends to stay alive.
Available Oct. 29, 2013 ($59.99).
The classic party game has been amped up thanks to the new capabilities of the Kinect controller. Up to six people can perform together in Just Dance 2014, and they won't all be doing the same choreography. Ubisoft also added online multiplayer for the first time, so you can compete for glory on the World Dance Floor. If busting a move isn't your thing, play the part of Party Master and direct the show, posing challenges and picking new songs for the dancers.
Available Nov. 19, 2013 ($49.99).
Whether you're piled on the couch together or locking horns in an online multiplayer adventure, nothing quite compares to the fun of gaming with your friends. Thanks to the technological advances coming in the next generation of consoles, gamers will have many new co-op experiences at their fingertips this fall.

The Xbox One, which hits shelves Nov. 22, has several titles that push the bounds of what gamers can do together. From the casual to the hardcore, players of all kinds can find something to enjoy. These six titles are bringing new ideas and new multiplayer fun to the living room. Several will also be available on PC or PlayStation 4, but some are exclusive to the Microsoft camp.
