The Hilarious Downside of Using Google Glass in Public

Google Glass might be one of the neatest gadgets to come out of the tech world this year. Unfortunately, it's also one of the most embarrassing gadgets to use in public.
YouTube prankster Ed Bassmaster hung around a shopping mall, speaking loudly into his Google Glass and confusing bystanders in the process. The prank is a takeoff of Bassmaster's Bluetooth Man prank, in which he strikes up conversations with nearby strangers, only to claim that he's talking to someone else on his Bluetooth device. The prank treads the thin line between painfully awkward and downright hysterical.

The video is a collaboration between Bassmaster and PRServe founder Chris Barrett, a member of the Google Glass Explorer program.
Barrett told Mashable that he came to Bassmaster with the clever idea to outfit Bluetooth Man with a Google Glass device. After seeing the hilarious results of their first shoot, Barrett says they are hoping to shoot more videos over the next few months.
The only challenge of filming with Google Glass, he added, is the device's tendency to draw a crowd.
"Not everyone knows what Google Glass is, but when they do they usually want to test it out," says Barrett. "So, we ended up having Glass conversations in between pranks with mall workers and even security guards asking us about Google Glass."
