The latest Bluetooth speakers on the market run the gamut from the stripped down and utilitarian to the impractically ostentatious. But Fugoo has unveiled a new kind of Bluetooth speaker that’s not only practical, it's decidedly innovative.
The Fugoo Wireless Bluetooth Speaker system is composed of a rectangular speaker along with a multi-function, waterproof, wireless remote that can be strapped to your wrist. Inside the speaker are two neodymium tweeters, two neodymium woofers and two passive radiators, delivering a 360-degree range of sound.

Fugoo’s speaker also boasts up to 40 hours of battery life and it can be recharged via micro-USB or international AC Adapter in just three and a half hours. The device is also a solid solution for outdoor use as it is resistant to water, snow, dust and sand.
In terms of style, the Fugoo has three easily changeable outer jackets that allow you to transform the look of the speaker depending on the environment or occasion.

But for wearable technology enthusiasts, the most interesting part of the Fugoo system might be the wireless wrist controller. Featuring a full set of controls for your connected smartphone (volume, play, pause, next, previous), the waterproof smart remote control can be worn on the wrist or around the neck via an included lanyard. Using the wrist device, users can also wirelessly control the speaker, as well as connect it to Siri or Google Now.
Interestingly, the company also decided to include a rather non-techie feature on the smart remote’s frame: a bottle opener.
“We like to have fun; we love to play, and play hard,” Gary Elsasser, the CEO of Fugoo, told Mashable. “We figured you if have the lanyard around your neck, what else might you need?”
The Fugoo Wireless Bluetooth speaker system will be sold in several configurations: $189.99 for the speaker with the Style jacket, $199.99 for the speaker with the Sport jacket and with smart remote and $229.99 for the speaker and Tough jacket (pictured above) with smart remote.
For those just looking to purchase the smart remote alone, it will sell for $69.99. The entire system will be available beginning Jan. 21.
