Hundreds of Documents Tell the Tale of the New Jersey Bridge Scandal

In the continuing saga of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and the George Washington Bridge lane closures, the state has released hundreds of pages of new documents related to the scandal.
Although questions about the mysterious lane closures that led to the massive gridlock have been asked since they occurred in September, the story erupted on Wednesday when newly public emails showed that Christie's deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, orchestrated the traffic jam along with some of the governor's appointees within the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. They allegedly wanted to dish out some political payback to the mayor of Fort Lee, N.J., for his lack of support in Christie's reelection campaign.

The Port Authority officials recently resigned, and Thursday the Garden State governor held a 107-minute press conference in which he apologized for the behavior of his staff and said he had fired Kelly. He also distanced himself from the scandal, saying he had been misled by his aides and that Wednesday was the first time he had seen the emails that led to the scandal.
We will add the documents as they become available (the site that hosts them seems to be experiencing significant traffic, causing slow downloads). We will continue to update this article with their most relevant information as we and other news organizations search through them.
