Dennis Rodman has checked into an alcohol-addiction rehabilitation center after returning from a controversial trip to North Korea, according to his agent.
"Dennis Rodman came back from North Korea in pretty rough shape emotionally. The pressure that was put on him to be a combination 'super human' political figure and 'fixer' got the better of him," Darren Prince said in a statement to CNN on Sunday. "He is embarrassed, saddened and remorseful for the anger and hurt his words have caused."
Prince did not immediately respond to Mashable's request for comment.
Earlier this month, Rodman admitted that he had been drinking prior to an interview with CNN.
The former professional-basketball player, who was known for his rebounding prowess, traveled to North Korea to repair relations with the authoritarian country and its leader Kim Jong-un through "basketball diplomacy." Kim is known to be an ardent fan of U.S. basketball, especially the Chicago Bulls teams on which Rodman had previously played.

Kim's admiration enabled Rodman to form a friendship with the leader, with the latter hoping that a shared enjoyment of basketball would form a foundation to ease tensions between the U.S. and North Korea.
Rodman has been criticized for glossing over Kim's transgressions, including the continued detainment of American Kenneth Bae. Kim also made headlines for executing his uncle, one of the country's most powerful generals.
It was a question about Bae that led to Rodman's outburst on CNN.
