Sheryl Sandberg's 'Lean In' Might Become a Movie

Ready for Lean In: The Movie? Sony Pictures has purchased the rights to Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, according to a report.
Deadline reports that the film isn't a biography of Sandberg's life, but rather a "narrative film from the themes contained within the book." Sandberg will donate the project's proceeds to her Lean In foundation. Nell Scovell, best known as the showrunner for '90s TV series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, will write the script. Scovell also helped Sandberg write the Lean In book.

Released in March 2013, Lean In examines double standards for women and men in the workforce and offered prescriptions for success, including increased assertiveness at meetings and eagerness to point out one's accomplishments. The book quickly became a bestseller and was a hit with critics; the New York Times named it one of the 100 Notable Books of 2013.
If the project becomes a movie, it will be Sony's second Facebook-related project. The studio was behind 2011's The Social Network, which was based on Mark Zuckerberg's founding of the company in 2004.
