The streaming service has officially green-lit a third season for House of Cards, a Netflix representative confirmed.

The show was originally only given a two-season pickup, but Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had previously expressed interest in continuing the show's run.
"I think if you look at the original House of Cards, there was a natural third season, and we could go well beyond that," Sarandos said at a panel in November.
House of Cards lead actress Robin Wright also broke the news at a press junket for the second season Tuesday, telling The Wrap that they would "start shooting season three soon."
Netflix reps denied any further comment on the third season.
The show, starring Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood, a cutthroat and cunning senator, was Netflix's first big foray into original content and a smash hit. The show earned several award nominations, including four 2014 Golden Globes nods with a win for Wright in the Best Actress category.
The 13-episode second season of House of Cards will arrive on Netflix on Feb. 14.
