This news is in line with rumors that Apple is working on fitness and health-focused iOS software (iOS 8) that will launch later this year. Those apps also rumored to integrate with the iWatch, which would come with a variety of intelligent sensors that can track your body's movement and health status.
Although Lamego joined Apple in January, the company has been adding staffers for research and development of the rumored iWatch for some time now.
Michael O'Reilly, the former chief medical officer and executive VP for medical affairs at Masimo, joined Apple last summer to work on the iWatch, but according to 9to5Mac, it's not his only project. The company is also currently looking to hire a user studies exercise physiologist.
