Never fear, Marvel's here!
New York City will serve as the primary backdrop for Marvel's upcoming live-action project featuring featuring iconic comic book characters, the media giant announced Wednesday at a joint press conference with Netflix and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The multi-million dollar venture will create up to 3,000 production jobs — approximately 400 that are full time — and generate millions of dollars for the local economy. It is the largest production commitment in the state's history.

"New York is where the entertainment industry started and this unprecedented commitment from Disney and Marvel is further evidence that we're bringing it back bigger and better than ever before," Cuomo said in a statement. "These shows bring New York's superheroes home where they belong."
Marvel plans to produce four 13-episode series following the adventures of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron First and Luke Cage — who were all products of the Big Apple — as well as a culminating miniseries featuring Marvel's "The Defenders." Filming is scheduled to begin this summer and the final product will be streamed on Netflix starting in 2015 with Daredevil's story line.
Cuomo has made an ongoing to push to stimulate New York's economy by bringing more film and television production to the state. One of the latest projects to benefit from these efforts was The Tonight Show, which received a $20 million tax break after moving to New York earlier this month following more than 40 years in Los Angeles.
Netflix made waves in September when the online streaming service won two Emmys, beating out a multitude of mainstream dramas. Other long-running series filmed in New York City include the many iterations of Law & Order, Sex and the City and The Cosby Show.
