Nuzzel, the social news service from Friendster founder Jonathan Abrams, is now open to anyone who wants to join.
The service first launched in the fall 2012, and was previously invitation-only.

Unlike many of Abrams' previous ventures, Nuzzel is not a new social network. Instead, it claims to find the most important stories your connections are sharing Facebook and Twitter and puts them all in one place.
When you sign up with Twitter or Facebook, Nuzzel pulls in stories that have recently been shared by multiple friends. Articles that have been shared the most are pushed to the top of your feed, and all stories are displayed with commentary from friends — as well as friends of friends — so you can see what your connections are saying.

For a broader range of stories, you can also view "news you may have missed," which pulls in articles that people in your network have shared within the last few days.
"Nuzzel packages these top stories for you with the context of what your friends said about it,” Abrams told the The New York Times. "We are tapping into human curation, but it’s the human curation of all your friends on Facebook and Twitter.”
Nuzzel is still web-based, but Abrams said an iPhone app will launch in the coming months. Abrams added that sponsored posts or other advertising would likely be added in future updates.
The company also announced plans to hire Kent Lindstrom as COO, Friendster's former CEO and CFO.
