Freedom For Palestine

A Palestinian Holocaust Museum? Ayoon Wa Azan (Connivance to the Extent of Complicity) Jihad el-Khazen Al-Hayat - 06/02/08// I suggest the building of a museum commemorating the victims of the crimes perpetrated during the Israeli wars against the Palestinians and other Arabs. This idea of mine was inspired by the recent celebration of the Nazi Holocaust memory, followed by the commemoration of Hitler's seizure of power in Germany 60 years ago. When I later looked for information on the Holocaust museums around the world, I found out that they exist in many countries. In Israel, there are 4 and in the United States there are 23 museums and centers, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum that was built - while I was in Washington - in the same street embodying the US history and rule, i.e. between the Capitol Hill and the White House and near the statue of George Washington, the father of American independence. While I understand Israel's building of Holocaust museums, I do not understand the American gross exaggeration. The Americans were neither the killers nor the victims. Their interest in the issue reflects the influence of the Israel lobby and the flagrant attempt to elicit sympathy for a state that currently commits Nazi-like crimes with American weapons and American financial and political support. I suggest that the main hall of the Palestinian holocaust museum should have a dome-like ceiling inlaid with the photos of the victims of Israeli terror over 60 years or more, similarly to the dome in the Yad Vashem museum in Jerusalem. The 1948 massacre of Deir Yasin was perpetrated by the Irgun and Stern gangs who killed 254 civilians, mostly women and children. Most importantly, in addition to documenting the death toll of that massacre, it must be stated that the heads of the two terrorist gangs, Menahem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir, later became prime ministers in the terrorist state - knowing that each Israeli premier is a terrorist. I am not trying to document the massacres, as this requires an encyclopedia, a museum, and archives. But I simply want to remind the readers of the Al-Lid massacre and the 500 martyrs, of whom 150 were slain inside the Grand Mosque, let alone the massacres committed in Latroun, Kalkilia, Kafr Kasem, Qibya, Khan Yunis, and in every other Palestinian town. It is the history of Israeli terror which is very well documented to the extent that the historian David Irving renowned for distorting facts will not find a way to deny it. I personally do not have a problem with the Nazi Holocaust. It was a dreadful human disaster. I have always said that this massacre claimed six million Jews. In addition, I have constantly scolded the Arabs who deny it even though they are not accused of perpetrating it. I do not mind if the British government sends little children to Auschwitz. I wish it would send them to the Nazi Gaza camp and the Palestinian prisons in Israel. I have a problem with the Holocaust industry, as Norman Finkelstein puts it. I have a problem with those who try to benefit from the victims' blood or memory in order to divert attention away from Israel's daily and Nazi-like crimes against the Palestinians. I am referring to the Palestinians while realizing that the Israelis have killed all those they could reach. The suggested museum will not be complete unless it consecrates a room for the 1970 Bahr Al-Bakar Massacre in Egypt when Israeli airplanes raided an elementary school causing the death of 30 children and the injury of tens of others. Before that, Israel killed captive Egyptian soldiers in violation of all customs and faiths. Furthermore, the museum needs to dedicate a room to the victims of the Libyan plane shot down by Israel near the Suez Canal and in which 112 passengers and crew members were killed. We can also add the victims of the American Navy Liberty spy ship that was shelled by Israeli military aircraft in 1967. We should not forget the Qana massacre of 1996 when 110 Lebanese, including more than 60 minors or children, were killed. After mentioning the rooms destined for Egyptian, Libyan, and American victims, I come back to the Palestinians and the 1994 Massacre of Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron by the Jewish terrorist Baruch Goldstein. The result was the massacre of 29 Palestinians in a sacred place named after the father of the Arabs and the Jews. Did the readers notice that the Israeli terrorist is insane, while the Arab terrorist is a terrorist? A quick move to recent history leads me to Israel's assassination of militant Salah Shehadeh. Along with him, it deliberately killed 16 people, including children and 7 women. Israel also killed children, like Ahamd Al-Durra who died in his father's lap and the living martyr Hoda Ghalieh who lost all her family on June 9, 2006 when a bomb fired by Israeli warships hit the Gaza coast. The student Iman Alhamas was also killed at the hands of an Israeli officer who discharged the bullets of his gun into her innocent body but was later declared innocent by an Israeli court à la Nazis. The museum must, if built, be surrounded by a fence; a mural I suggest to carve the names of all the victims of Israeli terror, similarly to the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington, knowing that this wall was built for soldiers, who either killed or were killed. As for the Palestinian wall, it will be for the civilian victims, almost half of whom are women and children. The archives of this museum, the films about the victims - unavailable in Nazi days - will inevitably be unrivaled by Yad Vashem or the National Authority for the Remembrance of the Martyrs and Heroes of the Holocaust in Israel. This time, the films will be in color, i.e. red, with wails and tears. Today, the West recalls a horrible crime committed over 60 years ago but forgets a crime committed right before its eyes every day. Though the West could have saved the lives of many Jews after 1943, it did not. Today, it is perpetrating the same serious crime, or a worse one, against the Palestinians because it is conniving with Israeli terror to the extent of becoming a crime accomplice.
