Motorola Ships 100,000 Moto X Phones Per Week

Motorola is shipping 100,000 Moto X phones per week, a somewhat slow start for the long-awaited phone.
The figure, quoted by Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside in a Reuters article, would net out to just more than 5 million shipments annually if Motorola continues at that pace. For comparison's sake, Apple shipped 31.2 million iPhones in its most recent quarter.

Woodside told Reuters that the Texas facility currently used to manufacture the Moto X phones is capable of producing "tens of millions" of the phones per year. However, he's waiting for demand to increase before expanding manufacturing.
Motorola introduced the Moto X in August. The phone, which sports color-customization and voice-activated software, was the first product developed under the auspices of Motorola and Google since the latter bought the former for $13 billion in 2012.
The launch is said to be backed by a $500 million ad campaign. Though a print campaign began in early July, the first TV ads will hit Thursday night.
