At least 17 students of Jagannath University were injured in a triangular clash between Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists yesterday. Eight of the injured Shibir activists were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). They are Nahibullah Zihadi, Mahmudullah, Ziaul Haque, Masud Chowdhury, Kamal, Ashraful and Nahibul Islam Tanvir. Seven of BCL leaders and workers and two JCD men were also injured during the clash. The injured BCL men include university unit general secretary Abu Sayeed, Moshiur Rahman, Sohel and Saikat. Sources said the clash erupted as a sequel to Saturday's incident, in which some BCL and JCD activists beat up an activist of Shibir. The BCL and JCD men yesterday chased the Shibir activists at around 12:30pm leading to a half-an-hour clash. Meanwhile, some outsiders injured a teacher of Dhaka Commerce College, Mirpur in front of the college yesterday during a scuffle between the students and outsiders over teasing female students. Protesting the attack on the teachers, students put barricade on road in front of the college for about one and a half hours.
