Kitten Delivery Promotion Leads to Uber Cat Shortage

Taxi-hailing app Uber announced an adorable promotion for National Cat Day on Tuesday, promising 15 minutes of kitten playtime delivered right to your office. But the demand has been so high, there's an Uber cat shortage in New York City.
The company teamed up with LOLcats site I Can Has Cheezburger to bring kittens in need of adoption to offices in San Francisco, New York and Seattle. Each visit costs $20, a fee that goes toward participating shelters. Uber employees will show up with kittens in tow after a trip is requested via its free app.

However, the on-demand cat-snuggling service hasn't been working for everyone.

"Everyone loves kittens, so the response has been awesome," a Cheezburger spokesperson told Mashable. "It has been difficult for everyone to get a kitten SUV at their offices. And as we all know, kittens run on their own schedule, so we have to work around their cat naps and feedings."
Uber detailed the promotion on its official blog, noting each person who orders a kitten delivery also receives cupcakes from celebrity baker Duff Goldman from the reality TV show Ace of Cakes.
