Hulu Answers Our Dreams of a '7th Heaven' Revival

7th Heaven, television's longest-running family drama, called it quits in 2007, but now Hulu wants you to relive the series in all its glory — all 243 episodes of it.
Hulu will make the show's 11 seasons available to Hulu Plus subscribers sometime this year as part of a non-exclusive multi-year content deal with CBS Corporation that will expand Hulu's collection of CBS programming from 2,700 episodes to more than 5,300 episodes.

The agreement, which was announced Monday, will bring a slew of newer and older shows to Hulu Plus in 2014. Hulu Plus subscribers will get multiple seasons of Cheers, Happy Days, Taxi, The Odd Couple, Everybody Loves Raymond, Laverne & Shirley, Wings and Melrose Place, as well as the first season of 90210. No exact release dates have been set for any shows.
Hulu is also getting a dose of "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" with 91 episodes of 1970s family sitcom Brady Bunch for Hulu Plus users.

More recent shows being added are United States of Tara, The L Word, Everybody Hates Chris, Ghost Whisperer, Jericho, Flashpoint, Ringer, Undercover Boss and Australia’s Next Top Model. The deal also will beef up Hulu Kids with such characters as Charlie Brown, Dr. Seuss, Puff the Magic Dragon and Strawberry Shortcake.
Hulu already offers an array of shows from CBS' library, including The Good Wife, Elementary, CSI: Miami, Numb3rs, Star Trek, I Love Lucy, The Amazing Race, Star Trek, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Twilight Zone. The expansion this year shows CBS' confidence in Hulu as well as Hulu's commitment to ramping up its library with a mix of original series and older favorites.
"CBS programming on Hulu Plus has performed exceptionally well," Scott Koondel, chief corporate content licensing officer at CBS Corporation, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them, providing more terrific CBS content to their growing base of subscribers."

BONUS: 8 Great Apps for Second-Screen TV

AMC’s smart, suspenseful take on the zombie genre has generated a large following, and this app lets them share the experience of live episodes together. Story Sync keeps viewers engaged with polls, trivia, still photos, quotes and flashbacks. All the information is shared in a striking design.
The CW has been active in developing a second screen presence for the network, and The Vampire Diaries is one of the shows with its own app. It has the usual features, such as video previews and social media buzz, but it also has the unique Caption Now angle. Viewers can capture screenshots from an episode, write their own witty captions and share them with friends. It adds a new layer of interactive fun to the usual show conversation.
This is a must-have for any serious fans of HBO programming. If you have a cable account, then you can watch full episodes on either the mobile or web versions. Within the tool, you can find hubs for different shows, and the standout is the extra content for Game of Thrones. If you need help keeping the members of each house straight or understanding the complex politics of Westeros, then this is a great companion tool.
Who would have imagined the day when Nickelodeon would receive an Emmy? The Nick App received a nod for the best user experience and visual design as part of the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media awards. It's updated daily with new content for tech-savvy young viewers, all in the network's usual zany tone.
Fans of Conan O'Brian can't get enough of the gangly comedian, and they can go behind the scenes through the Team Coco app. The app includes the Sync Multi-Screen Experience -- tap 'Sync' in the app while watching an episode of his show on TBS to access extra content on your mobile device. When the show's off the air, you can still use the app to get your fix of all things Conan.
Once strictly a music-focused app, Shazam's abilities to interpret what it hears have proven an interesting addition to the second-screen trend. It can also tag television programs, and rather than simply offer a link for purchasing, it will share information about the show and cast. The company has experimented with other partnerships to give more specialized experiences for shows such as X-Factor and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Just a few months ago, GetGlue was the hip app for checking in to live television, centralizing your conversations about shows and giving you digital stickers for watching. In November, i.TV bought the company, and now it's available on your phones and tablets as tvtag. The focus now is on collecting conversations about the most exciting TV moments, so you'll still be able to get social with your opinions and thoughts on the latest programming.
The popular social network has become a close partner for many of the second-screen efforts in TV. Even though it wasn't made just for simultaneous viewing, Twitter has become an important part of the television experience. Many shows have had successful campaigns and conversations based around Twitter. For example, Psych on USA Network and Bones on FOX have both made smart use of live chats and hashtag games to keep their fans talking.
