Over the generations the Jalodash (Fisher Folk) community of Sitakunda of Chittagong, Bangladesh have been chasing the Bay of Bengal to hunt fish and earn a livelihood. The existence of these inhabitants is now endangered for sea piracy. For a long days these sons and daughters of Bay have been vulnerable to sea pirates who plumber their fishes, nets, boats and other fishing tools. The community is so vulnerable that they could not ensure their livelihood due to the sea piracy. On the other had this Jaladas Community does not have excess to law enforcement authority to sue against the problem they are facing. The policy makers, law authority even civil society people are not aware about the intensity of the problem. The community is so frustrated that they are of the opinion that there is none to help them. As a coastal NGO Janoseba and DISA are the eyewitnesses of this agony. Both feel to take initiative against Sea piracy with organized community through advocacy activities in local, national and International level. As villagers of arround 22 Jalodash villages suffers for years Janoseba and DISA a local network organization initiated the project “ The advocacy campaign against sea pirates” with the financial support of THE MAY 18 MEMORIAL FOUNDATION.
