Dhaka: Some Bangladeshi nationals, stranded in community shelters in twin disaster-hit Sendai of north-east Japan, were evacuated on Monday.They were trapped in Sendai after devastating earthquake and tsunami savaged Japan's north-east on Friday and were staying at community shelters set up in Sendai since then.A rescue team, led by Counsellor and the First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, evacuated the 52 Bangladeshis and taken to a safer place. A Foreign Ministry release said they are safe and sound and will reach Tokyo very soon.The Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo has taken necessary steps to look after them in the Japanese capital.
The Embassy is constantly keeping communications with them and waiting to receive them in Tokyo.The rescue team also includes the Embassy staff and Bangladeshi nationals living in Japan.No report of Bangladeshi casualty in the twin disasters and after-shock was received by the Embassy as yet.
