My beloved mother has acute asthma, suffering for a long time. One of my friends, a doctor working for DMCH, adviced to have an ECG investigation of her. It was around 10pm; May 2nd, 2009. With the ECG report, I took my mother to National Heart Foundation, Mirpur. As soon as the medical officer saw the ECG report, commented, "she is in danger!" He then asked me whether I have a car. If not, I should arrange urgently, because she need emergency treatment otherwhere (preferably at NICVD) as they had no bed available. It was so urgent, not to have a ticket even! I just got a moment to pay a bill for highest emergency medication they gave (it was 'loading' with 'heparine' according to the doctor). I was fainted. Somehow I managed to carry her to NICVD at college-gate. Doctors at NICVD were simply confused. They couldnot understand why did I take my mother to them since she had no cardiac problem at all. They sent me back with advises for treatment of asthma. So I got the point that National Heart Foundation is running with such doctors who do not know how to read an ECG report (or what else?).
