I work for a private company and live a very simple life. Last week one fine morning(!!!)I got a letter from a bank related to my Credit Card. The Reliable Bank! requested me to update my TIN certificate otherwise they would not help but disabling my account. Out of curiocity I made a query to a former concern person of that Bank and came to know that the very TIN is invalid. I was in deep trouble as I had been submitting my tax assesment to that TIN for two years. And recently govt. has put a new circular regarding fake TIN recently citing penalty against those. I had to go through excruciating psychological and physical stress and financial loss to reappear as an authentic and bonafide tax payer of the society. Now I would like to go back to 2006. In that year one morning a visitor from that bank made an appointment with me and marketed a lucrative product (Credit Card!!!) of his bank citing many of its facility. I was lured and confirmed my subscription by singing off. When I asked him about TIN, he assured me one for some money. I was happy avoiding all those hassles in the tax offices, more over getting a very lucrative product. But who new this happyness would turn into a harassment and sorrow later on! This incident has generated a huge awareness among my family, friends, colleagues and near and dear one. So I would request all of you to be careful when you appear as a valued credti card holder for the first time. Try to register as an authentic Tax payer through proper process to get a valid TIN so that you live a happy and hassle free life henceforth.
