Tour to Cox’s Bazar: Another Escape from Death : Part 2

At around 9:00 a.m., I and Salahuddin went to the beach. I don’t like to go to the sea wearing a sandal. Since there was no one who can keep our sandal and we shouldn’t lose Parisa Apu’s sandal, Salahuddin took her sandal in his hands. He was wearing mine and I was bare footed. We were in the knee-level-water within a few moments and having fun. The waves came one after another infrequently; some of those were very strong. We noted that the current of the water is very strong. The waves were driving us to the north-east direction. I couldn’t stand in a place even if I wanted it. Even I was moving with the sands down my legs. A few moments later Ashiq Bhai and Proshad Bhai joined us. They were good swimmers. There were other people in the beach then. Some people were bathing in more deep water, but not in our zone. At our zone there were other people at first. But later they left. So, we were only four then. Ashiq Bhai noticed that there were nets in the north-east direction and he said that there might be holes in those places. So, he moved south-east direction along with Proshad Bhai. A few moments later I and Salahuddin joined to them. But still in our zone, we were only four. The current was so strong that we were moving to the north-east direction. Ashiq bhai said that we should go to more south direction, where there were other people having fun. So he started swimming to the beach hoping to go to more south on foot and then run into the sea again. So, in our zone, there were only three of us. Although we were at waist-level-water, since it was at the end of low-tide-time, the water was far behind from the beach. That was something that we should have noticed. There were waves in the sea. At that time the waves were very frequent and very strong. Some waves had water level higher than our head. Each time when the waves were gone, we moved back and forth to adjust the waist-level-water. Everything was perfect and we had so much fun. Suddenly, a wave came drenching me up to my head and driving me to more north-east direction. When the wave was gone, I realized that I was drowning and there was nothing beneath my feet. I started shouting “Help! Help!” and moving my hands back and forth. I was facing to the beach. But the beach was so distant, so distant that I found no reason why someone should hear my voice from there. I got panic-stricken and completely bemused. I was at the waist-level-water. The wave drove me towards the beach. Now the wave is gone, why is the level of water not falling? Is it really possible that only one wave will double the level of water? I was not expecting this. I felt like I was moved to a place where the level of water is higher than my height. Actually I was moved to a place having cavity. I didn’t know what to do. I had got to find the sands beneath my feet and I had to breathe. At the time of drowning I heard ‘Help! Help!’ from Proshad Bhai and saw Ashiq Bhai at the beach watching us. But I was quite sure he was not listening us. We were so distant and our voices were so faint that that couldn’t reach the beach. Part 1
