A new set of leaked images appear to reveal the design for Amazon’s next-generation Kindle Fire HD tablet.
First published by BGR, the photos show a radically modified exterior for the high-end tablet, which is accented by angular edges; this is a distinct departure from the smooth, rounded edges of its predecessor (see photo, above).

In some ways, the new design (which is partially obscured, presumably to protect the source of the leak) is reminiscent of the old HTC Touch Diamond smartphone, a minor hit with design-centric mobile users a few years ago.
In a previous report, BGR offered unconfirmed details on the specs for Amazon’s upcoming 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablets. Citing “trusted sources,” the site claimed that the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will feature a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel display, 2 GB of RAM and a front-facing camera.
The report added that the 8.9-inch version will include a 2,560 x 1,600 display, a front-facing camera and a rear-facing camera. Both tablets will reportedly weigh significantly less than previous models.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
