Apple will unveil the newest updates to its iPad line on Oct. 22, according to a report.
AllThingsD reports hearing from sources familiar with the situation that Apple will hold event that day to introduce the fifth generation iPad and the second generation iPad Mini, with the possibility that it may also unveil other products like a new Mac Pro.

Apple did not immediately respond to our request for comment on the report. AllThingsD has a good track record with Apple rumors and was the first to reveal the Sept. 10 date for the iPhone launch event.
Apple went nearly a year without introducing a new product after the iPad Mini event in November. However, CEO Tim Cook noted in an earnings call earlier this year that the company would have a "very busy fall." It seems he wasn't exaggerating.
As it so happens, Oct. 22 is the same day that the Microsoft Surface goes on sale.
