OK Glass, let's get a cool new model and some more Glass-wearing friends.
Google announced Monday that Explorers, owners of its reality-augmenting eyewear known as Glass, will be getting a free one-time hardware upgrade.
The new model has a mono earbud, and will allow Glass to "work with future lines of shades and prescription frames," the company said.

At the same time, Explorers will each get three invites to pass out to friends so they can buy their own Glass online. Of course, this isn't exactly like a Gmail invite: Each of those friends will still have to pony up $1,500.
The hardware swap will take place after Nov. 1; Glass users have 60 days to sign up. Anyone who purchased Glass prior to Oct. 28 is eligible.
