Lyft Zombies Rise From Dead to Give Out Candy, Spooky Rides

It's not every day you can hitch a ride with the undead. But since when has Halloween been like every other day?
The ridesharing app Lyft shifted its Halloween spirit into high gear on Thursday, transforming nearly 50 San Francisco-based drivers into spooky Zombie chauffeurs. The drivers, who received a professional makeup job from a special effects artist who also drives Lyft in his spare time, are cruising around the city with baskets full of candy and Lyft discount codes for unsuspecting passengers.

Users who request a ride will know they've booked a zombie driver when the driver's picture shows up within the app. The candy being handed out to passengers also has Lyft discount codes attached, offering users ride credits worth as much as $100 (although most are $10-20, according to a Lyft spokesperson).

As unique as Lyft's Zombie drivers may seem, they may not even be the most bizarre ridesharing stunt of the week. For National Cat Day on Tuesday, ridesharing startup Uber delivered kittens to people who wanted to play with them throughout the day. The kittens were a hot commodity, and many users were left kitten-less, but received an Uber credit as a consolation prize.
