Digg Introduces Video Section

Digg, the social news site that's desperately been trying to reinvent itself in the last year and a half, has launched a new section of the site: Digg Video.
Digg Video doesn't really break any new ground: it's just a curated list of videos that are popular on Digg. The video section features large thumbnails of videos, but otherwise the look and feel is just as simple and minimalistic as the rest of the site.
The reason for the move is simple: videos attract traffic. "Since we relaunched Digg two summers ago, our Video tag has consistently garnered more traffic than any other," wrote the Digg team in an official blog post.

Once the biggest social news site around, Digg has lost a significant portion of its traffic after a relaunch in August 2010, ultimately resulting in the departure of the site's founder Kevin Rose and a complete overhaul in July 2012. The site also jumped at the opportunity that opened after Google killed off Google Reader, building a simple but effective news reader called the Digg Reader.
Though Digg has a long way to reach its former glory, with the advent of the video section the site has taken another step towards that goal. As for future plans, Digg promises to bring the video section of the site to iOS and Android "shortly".
