Sony Testing Defective PlayStation 4 Devices

With 1 million units sold in the first 24 hours of availability in the U.S. and Canada, the PlayStation 4 is on track to become one of the company’s more successful product launches. However, in recent days, some users are reporting that the console is defective right out of the box.
In response, Sony is testing some of the units that users reported defective as it works to identify the problem.

“We take any problem very seriously, which is why we’re having each of the affected systems sent back to us and tested to eliminate all possibilities and identify the issue,” a Sony spokesperson told Mashable.
The number of reviewers on Amazon reporting problems with the console continues to increase. As of this writing, 639 users gave the device a 1-star review, versus 373 1-star reviews listed when Mashable first reported the story on Nov. 16.
Those user with defective consoles will have to wait until Sony completes its internal testing to discover the cause of the issues. In the meantime, Sony’s spokesperson said the company is working to get early adopters back on track with replacement units.
"We are immediately sending replacement PS4 systems to those with affected PS4 systems."
