Fans of the season have argued whether or not certain flicks belong in the Christmas category. Some films feature holiday cheer briefly, but crucially. Some seem too dark for traditional yuletide fare, but have become important holiday traditions. Some are Die Hard.
All a Christmas movie really needs is the suggestion of the season (a tree, Santa hat, some mistletoe) and a loyal fan base that watches it every year with their family and friends.
Because every dude you went to high school with can't be wrong (on this subject, anyway).
Halloween or Christmas? It's a pointless battle that needs to stop.

If New Year's Eve movies were a thing, it might make that list -- but for now this rom com is not only a Christmas movie, but a Christmas test. As you watch it, ask yourself, "Do you have someone to help you carry your tree, or are you dragging it alone?"
