Baking can keep you tethered to the kitchen for a good few hours, but a new GE app upgrade lets you keep tabs on what's cooking while you're out running errands.
Four Wi-Fi-enabled GE wall ovens already allow users to control the temperature, set the timer and monitor the cooking status via an app. Now, a new app update lets users control the oven even when outside the house.

It is the company's first available upgrade for existing wall ovens (models PT9050, PT9550, PK7000, PK7500). Previously, the app required you to be on the same Wi-Fi network connection as the oven, which restricted users to stay inside the house.
"Consumer convenience will always be a driving factor in GE’s new appliance designs," a GE spokesperson said. "Consumer's use smartphones to manage their lives, so it only makes sense that the technologies would converge."
The GE Brillion mobile app (for both iOS and Android) syncs with the oven models and pushes updates to keep you on top of what's going on inside. Similar to a remote control, users can pre-heat the oven from afar, adjust the settings or even turn it off.
