Denver vs. Seattle: A Super Cultural Showdown

As the Super Bowl draws near, tension grows between those loyal to Denver and Seattle. It's not unlikely that someone will confront you about your loyalties.
Even if you don't know the first thing about football, it's still fun to pick a team and scream at the television during the big game. For those struggling to decide which city is superior, perhaps some of the other cultural differences will help you choose.

Of course, whether you choose a team because of Frasier or a cheeseburger is entirely up to you.
While The Shining is set in the Rockies, The Ring takes place in Seattle. However, we can all agree that neither is somewhere we'd like to hang out.
Pick your poison. Seattle is known for being home to Starbucks, as it's where the coffee company first got its start. But Denver rules when it comes to craft beer.
Denver might not have a giant architectural structure that defines it … wait, actually it does, thanks to nature. Now if we could only get a rotating restaurant on top of the Rocky Mountains.
Both Seattle and Denver have their own respective dysfunctional TV families. Frasier, set in Seattle, was the successful spin-off of Cheers. The success of Dynasty, featuring the Carringtons, led to an attempt at a spin-off, yet it did not last for more than two seasons.
What do Dr. Michaela "Mike" Quinn (Jane Seymour) and Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) have in common? Both got their start in Boston. Dr. Quinn left for adventure out west, settling in Colorado, and Dr. Grey became a surgical intern in Seattle.
Ok, fine -- it's probably unfair to put an endless variety of fresh oysters next to baby bull testicles.
In one corner, we have an indie band. In the other, we have another indie band. One is from Seattle, while the other belongs in Colorad-ho-hey? (Sorry.)
You can probably get either in Denver or Seattle, so whichever you want to pick for each location is up to you.
After downing a brownie or doughnut, you can enjoy Seattle's signature way to eat a hot dog: with cream cheese! Or, if you're in Denver, grab a cheeseburger, which the city has trademarked, thanks to Louis Ballast of the Humpty Dumpty Drive-In.
Every town needs a famous face for its citizens to brag about. For Coloradoans, John Denver was such a celebrated Coloradoan, the state legislature adopted "Rocky Mountain High" as one of its state songs in 2007. That means it's only a matter of time before Macklemore is "Claiming the City" of Seattle.
