It's a go for "Let It Go" at this year's Academy Awards. Idina Menzel will perform the song from Disney's Frozen for the first time on TV during ABC's March 2 broadcast of the ceremony, Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron revealed Tuesday.
"Let It Go" is nominated for Best Original Song, along with "Happy" from Despicable Me 2, "Ordinary Love" from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and "The Moon Song" from Her.

Menzel, who sang the self-empowerment anthem as the magical Queen Elsa in Frozen, previously won a Tony Award for her performance as Elphaba in the Broadway's Wicked.

Meanwhile, Frozen is a contender for Best Animated Feature Film, competing against The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Ernest & Celestine and The Wind Rises.
Frozen is on fire with moviegoers and critics because of its relatable siblings storyline and its immensely progressive themes. Disney is poking fun at its princess-pines-over-proverbial-prince trope, as everyone around Princess Anna tells her she can't marry a man she just met. Like Katniss in the Hunger Games movies, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna both have empowering roles — Elsa with her self-acceptance as well as Anna with her forward advances toward men, and in the end, Anna kisses the man instead of the man kissing her.
For those reasons, people have become emotionally attached to the film — particularly online, where Elsa's "Let It Go" anthem of liberation has taken a life of its own with countless covers, parodies and memes.
