National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden will do a video interview with American Civil Liberties Union's principal technologist Christopher Soghoian, who is at South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin, Texas. Snowden will phone in by satellite today around noon ET.
Snowden, who is currently living in exile in Russia after famously leaking evidence of the NSA's expansive surveillance programs, is expected to speak on just that, festival organizers say. The conversation will be focused on the impact of the NSA's spying efforts on the technology community, and the ways in which technology can help to protect us from mass surveillance.
Hear directly from Snowden about his beliefs on what the tech community can and must do to secure the private data of the billions of people who rely on the tools and services that we build.
You can watch live on Texas Tribune's video stream (as long as it holds up to the expected crush of traffic), and you can follow us at @MashableLive, where we'll be live-tweeting the conversation.
