The Beastie Boys finally settled a months-long lawsuit with GoldieBlox, a toy company that parodied their song "Girls" in a viral ad.
The video, which was first released in November and has since been made private on YouTube, features an elaborate Rube Goldberg device, set to a cover of the group's song with alternate lyrics like, 'cause all our toys look just the same and we would like to use our brains.

GoldieBlox was founded by Debbie Sterling, a graduate from Stanford University who majored in mechanical engineering and product design. She wanted to make toys that engaged girls in areas like math, science and construction from an early age.
The toymaker initiated the legal action on Nov. 21 after representation for the Beastie Boys contacted GoldieBlox about possible copyright infringement, which the group later sued for.
GoldieBlox and the Beastie Boys exchanged relatively friendly letters in the following months, in which both groups expressed support for the goals of the other but made clear their litigious intentions.
GoldieBlox also released a new version of the ad with a different soundtrack.
The settlement will include an apology from GoldieBlox, to be displayed on the company's website, as well as donation by GoldieBlox to charities selected by the Beastie Boys that encourage science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for girls.
