We rang in the second-annual International Day of Happiness on March 20. Thousands of people joined in the celebration by sharing uplifting messages on social media.

To recognize this happy holiday, Mashable teamed up with the United Nations Foundation and All Natural Vines to host a special challenge. We encouraged our Vine community to make videos that promote bringing joy to others.

Stop-motion animator Andrew Basore of All Natural Vines set the bar high with the first #make_happy video. Basore works as a freelance animator in Brooklyn, creating Vine videos for brands.
"I love discovering what's unique about the objects I'm animating with," he said. "For example, paper can rip, tear and crumple, lending itself to exciting transitions and giving the viewer a new take on a story."
Below are some of our favorite submissions from the #make_happy and #happyday hashtags on Vine. The first three videos, selected by Make It Happy founder Mario Chamorro and All Natural Vines, were featured during yesterday's celebration at the UN headquarters in New York City. They will also be screened at the Google headquarters in Mountain View on March 29.
