"This winter storm will bring a one-two punch of snow and extreme cold," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. "I urge all those in the affected regions to exercise caution, and avoid travel if possible."
Forecasters expect accumulation of up to a foot in some areas. The NWS forecast says areas around southern New England will feel the brunt of the storm, in terms of snowfall and gusty winds.
"It will be a winter wonderland for these areas," the NWS predicts.
The storm has already caused thousands of flight cancelations and delays, and more than 1,000 flights scheduled for tomorrow have already been canceled, according to FlightAware.com. The airports facing the worst delays are in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
