Earlier this week, the American Kennel Club held its first-ever agility competition in which dogs of all breeds — including mixed-breed dogs— ran obstacle courses consisting of seesaws, jumps, weave poles and more.
One of the dogs that competed in the inaugural competition was a mixed-breed dog named Emma, who was rescued by her owner Christy Wrede, just before being put down at a kill shelter. Soon after, Wrede began training Emma who made it all the way to Westminster,
“Would you ever think it possible? From death row to Westminster,” Wrede said in an interview with The Globe And Mail. "You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a dog for it to surpass your wildest dreams."
