Sonos announced it will be rolling out a major update to its music controller app in the coming weeks. The latest version of the iOS and Android app will include a simplified design and universal search that finds your music across all streaming services.
Sonos, of course, is the whole-house music system that distributes digital music throughout your home. The controller app lets Sonos owners curate playlists for their connected Sonos systems and control what music is played in which rooms.

The refreshed design improves the in-app navigation so users can quickly choose the music that's currently being played, which rooms the music is playing in and what songs to play next. The new design also improves browsing, making it easier to find new songs from either your music library or streaming services.
But the biggest addition to the app is a new universal search feature. With the revamped search, users can quickly search for music across all of their streaming services. Search for an artist, album or song and the app now turns up results from iTunes, Rdio, Pandora, Spotify and any other music service you subscribe to.

"We’ve brought all our streaming services together for our simplest search ever to bring you the music you love in a heartbeat," Sonos said in a blog post announcing the update. "Search for an artist in one window and we will search for that artist across all your music services at the same time."
The Android version of the new app is currently in public beta. Android users can sign up for the beta version on Sonos' website with their existing Sonos account. iOS users will have to wait until the app update rolls out to all users later this Spring.
Sonos also said it would be updating Mac and PC versions of its desktop controllers later this year.
