The softer approach is a stark contrast from Cyrus' MTV performance at the VMAs in which she twerked on Robin Thicke while wearing a large foam finger.
Cyrus licks a sledgehammer and chain of a wrecking ball, at times riding the destructive sphere in the nude. Famed fashion and portrait photographer Terry Richardson directed for the video. Aside from the video, Cyrus on Monday also was announced as Saturday Night Live's Oct. 5 host and performer.

Cyrus is encouraging fans online to help her reclaim the Vevo record for most video views in 24 hours. She earned that record for "We Can't Stop" in June before relinquishing the honor to One Direction's "Best Song Ever." Cyrus will release the track list for her forthcoming album, Bangerz, if her Smilers fan base breaks the record.
