For the burgeoning blogger, Tumblr is a haven filled with beautiful images, templates, and others who understand your obsession with Doctor Who and Welcome to Night Vale. It's where you belong.
That doesn't mean it's perfect. Tumblr seems relatively simple to use, but it's definitely missing a few features that would be handy. That doesn't mean that you have to suffer. There are plenty of extensions and add-ons available for all browsers that'll help enhance your Tumblr experience.

We've curated seven of our favorite Tumblr extensions to get you started. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and different users will want different extensions based on their browser and usage.
Missing e claims to be the original Tumblr extension, and it's certainly one of the most popular. It's no wonder, with the host of features it provides including faster reblogs, a bookmark for your place in the dashboard and mass editor tweaks that allow you to select multiple posts at once.

You can also try X Kit, which has over 40 smaller, customizable extensions to enhance your Tumblr experience. Available on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera, X Kit allows you to add timestamps to posts, enhance your inbox experience, reply to notifications, browse safely in public and dim posts that you've already read.
Tumblr Savior is a brilliant Chrome extension that lets you add words and phrases to a "White" or "Black" list. The Black List prevents you from seeing posts containing unwanted words (no more spoilers!) and the White List means that posts containing those words will always show up in your feed.
A similar plug-in to Tumblr Savior, Tumblr Hate allows you to hide posts that are constantly reblogged. Be warned, you cannot use Tumblr Hate and Tumblr Savior at the same time, you have to choose which extension you prefer.
There are plenty of add-ons that allow you to post directly to Tumblr from any browser. Post to Tumblr is our favorite for Google Chrome and Share on Tumblr works great for Firefox, but there are lots of others with similar functions to choose from.

For those of you who get bored easily, Nice Tumblr provides a change of pace by allowing you to alter the appearance of your Tumblr dashboard, including the background, icons, sidebars and pretty much anything else you can think of. Don't like the themes? Those handy with CSS can write in their own file.
True power users don't want to waste time with time consuming clicking and mouse moving. Tumblr Shortcuts means your fingers never have to leave the keyboard, giving you complete control over your dashboard through keyboard commands.
