Canadian ski coach Justin Wadsworth came to the help of Russian cross-country skier Anton Gafarov. Gafarov's ski broke during the semi-finals of the men's freestyle sprint. Wadsworth ran from the sidelines to give the Russian a replacement ski, allowing him to finish the race.
Halfpipe skiing pioneer Sarah Burke died in a training accident in 2012. It was her dream to see the sport be part of the Olympic Games, something she didn't live to see. Burke's memory lived on in Sochi with a tributes from volunteers who skied in a heart shape before the halfpipe finals.

Speedskater Sugar Todd won't leave Sochi with a medal, but she had fun doing what she loves. Todd placed 29th in the 1000-meter event and instead of being a sore loser, she expressed her love of the Olympics and her sport on Twitter.
Swiss skier Dario Cologna won a gold medal in the 15-kilometer cross-country event. Twenty-eight minutes later, Peru's first-ever Winter Olympian Roberto Carcelen crossed the finish line. Waiting just on the other side was Cologna who came to congratulate Carcelen on his history-making race.
The American figure skater hit the ice hard during the men's short program. Abbott remained on the ground for a few scary moments before clapping erupted in Iceberg Skating Palace, motivating him to stand up and finish his routine with a smile.
In 2010, Alex Bilodeau celebrated a gold medal in men's mogul by hugging his brother and biggest fan, Frederic. Four years later, Bilodeau scored another gold and once again went straight to the sidelines to celebrate with the family who supported his Olympic dreams.
Bilodeau has described his brother, who lives with cerebral palsy, as "a big part" of his success.
In the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, Noelle Pikus-Pace retired from skeleton after missing the podium by one-tenth of a second. The mother of two wanted once last chance at a medal and came out of retirement to win silver in Sochi.
After securing her spot on the podium, Pikus-Pace hopped a fence and scaled the bleachers to hug her family.
Canadian speedskater Gilmore Junio voluntarily gave up his spot in the 1,000-meter final to teammate Denny Morrison, who took home silver in the event. Junio explained his decision on Twitter using a clip from The Mighty Ducks.
