5 Apps You Don't Want to Miss

DropBox has yet to make an official app for Windows Phone 8. Until it does, Windows Phone users are must rely on third-party alternatives. Of those, the newly released CloudSix for DropBox, with support for two-factor authentication and multiple accounts, offline file access and automatic upload from your camera roll, might be the most user friendly and full featured. CloudSix for DropBox is available for Windows Phone 8.
Adobe’s Revel image sharing and editing platform made its official Android debut this week. Users can upload, edit and share images and albums with friends. The service is compatible with Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere and Lightroom. The free app comes with one month of unlimited photo uploads. After a month, users are limited to 50 uploads per month unless they upgrade to Revel Premium, which has unlimited uploads, for $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Adobe Revel is available for Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows 8.
Oscar Mayer’s Wake Up and Smell the Bacon alarm clock app gives your iPhone’s alarm a complete bacon-themed overhaul. Though its optimized to be used with Oscar Mayer’s accompanying iPhone dongle, the app will still lull you out of sleep with the sounds of sizzling bacon grease and a soothing voice reciting “baconisms” like “bacon exceeds everything you ever imagined, only bacon exceeds bacon." Wake Up and Smell the Bacon is available for iOS.
Banter is the latest social messaging app from Andrew Busey, one of the creators of iChat. The app is essentially a series of chatrooms where users can have anonymous conversations with one another. The “rooms” are based around certain themed topics or events (e.g. Pets, SXSWi, March Madness). Users can also create private rooms, follow multiple conversations at once or find nearby users to chat with. Banter is available for Android. The company says an iOS version is coming soon.
TheFind is a one-stop shop for online shopping. The app aggregates millions of listings from thousands of online retailers to help its users find and compare products. Users can search for items manually or by voice search or scanning a barcode. The Android version of the app, which launched this week, also includes interactive catalogues so shoppers can browse, quickly find and price compare items from their favorite stores. TheFind is available for iOS and Android.
