একটি বৈষম্যহীন, শোষণহীন, অসাম্প্রদায়ীক ও ঐক্যবদ্ধ পৃথিবীর স্বপ্ন দেখি স্থানঃ সন্ত্রাস বিরোধী রাজু ভাষ্কর্য প্রাঙ্গণ,টিএসসি,ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সময়ঃ ২২শে অক্টোবর ২০১১, শনিবার, বিকাল ৩টা থেকে আয়োজনেঃ "আমরা শতকরা নিরানব্বই ভাগ" সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে Occupy Wall st. এখন সারা বিশ্বের আলোচিত একটি বিষয়। বলা যায় এটি আক্ষরিক অর্থেই Talk of the World এ পরিণত হয়েছে। তিউনিসিয়ার জুঁই বিপ্লবে যে গণজাগরণের শুরু সমগ্র মধ্যপ্রাচ্য ইউরোপ কাঁপিয়ে সেটা এখন বিশ্ব পুঁজিবাদের কেন্দ্র খোদ যুক্তরাষ্ট্রেই হাজির। এই আন্দোলনের মূল অনুপ্রেরণা মিশরের তাহরীর স্কোয়ার এবং স্পেনের পুয়ের্তা দেল সোল স্কোয়ার (Puerta del Sol Square)। সেপ্টেম্বর মাসের ১৭ তারিখ মাত্র ১০০ জন যে আন্দোলনের সূচনা করেছিল তা এখন হাজার হাজার ছাত্র-শ্রমিক-জনতার আন্দোলন।

ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে বিশ্বের আরো দেশে ! কারা এই আন্দোলনকারী এ বছরের জুলাইয়ের ১৩ তারিখ Adbusters-Culture Jammers HQ নামে একটি ম্যাগাজিন 'Occupy Wall st.' নামে একটি আন্দোলনের ঘোষনা দেয়। পত্রিকাটি মূলত ভ্যানকুভারভিত্তিক এন্টি-কনস্যুমারিস্ট ম্যাগাজিন। তাদের লক্ষ্য ছিল ১৭ই সেপ্টেম্বর নিউ ইয়র্কের ওয়াল স্ট্রীটে ২০,০০০ মানুষেরর একটা জমায়েত করা এবং এদের নিয়ে জায়গাটি অন্তত দু'মাসের জন্য দখল করে রাখা। তাদের বক্তব্য অনুযায়ী তারা মিশর, স্পেনসহ বিশ্বের জনগনের জাগরণে উদ্বুদ্ধ হয়ে এই কর্মসূচী ঘোষনা দেয়। এই উদ্দেশ্যে তারা http://occupywallst.org/ নামে একটি ওয়েব সাইট চালু করে।

ওয়েব সাইট তৈরীর ব্যাপারে তাদের বক্তব্য ছিল , Technology has made it easier than ever before for the people to stay in close contact and assist one another in acheiving a collective goal. Our aim is to make these tools available so our users--the true organizers of this event--can make an occuptation of Wall St. successful. Because we can!) সেপ্টেম্বর ১২ তারিখে তাদের ওয়েব সাইটে একটি পোস্ট আসে 'Why ?' শিরোনামে যার বক্তব্য ছিল এরকম, Contemporary society is commodified society, where the economic transaction has become the dominant way of relating to the culture and artifacts of human civilization, over and above all other means of understanding, with any exceptions being considered merely a temporary holdout as the market swiftly works on ways to monetize those few things which stubbornly remain untouched. Perhaps the most pernicious aspect of this current setup is that it has long ago co-opted the very means of survival within itself, making our existence not an inherent right endowed to us by the simple fact of our humanity but a matter of how much we're all worth -- the mere act of being alive has a price tag. Some pay it easily. Others pay for it with their submission. Others still can't pay it at all. Regardless, though, like cars, TVs and barrels of oil, our lives are commodities to be bought and sold on the open market amid the culture of ruthlessness and desperation that has arisen to accommodate it. This is the natural consequence of a society built around entities whose purpose it is to always, always minimize costs and maximize profits. It is the philosophy of growth for the sake of growth, the same ideology that drives a cancer cell. An economy in a steady state is not healthy. It needs to expand, constantly, perpetually. Of course, nothing can expand forever. The second law of thermodynamics tell us this much at least. But that doesn't mean the market won't try. It's not enough that a soft drink becomes the dominant soda, it must become the dominant beverage, period. It's not enough that people build some things out of a certain material, it must be the only thing anyone ever builds anything out of, ever. It's not enough to make pills for the ailments from which people already seek relief, pills must be made for problems that people didn't even know existed until a commercial told them to ask their doctors about it. We all know this course is not sustainable, but there will be great damage done before this point is reached. The people coming to Wall Street on September 17 come for a variety of reasons, but what unites them all is the opposition to the principle that has come to dominate not only our economic lives but our entire lives: profit over and above all else. Those that do not embrace this principle: prepare to be out-competed. They will lose the race to the bottom and the vulture will swoop down to feast. It is indicative of a deep spiritual sickness that has gripped civilization, a sickness that drives the vast deprivation, oppression and despoliation that has come to cover the world. The world does not have to be this way. A society of ruthlessness and isolation can be confronted and replaced with a society of cooperation and community. Cynics will tell us this world is not possible. That the forces arrayed against us have won and will always win and, perhaps, should always win. But they are not gods. They are human beings, just like us. They are a product of a society that rewards the behavior that has led us to where we are today. They can be confronted. What's more, they can be reached. They just need to see us. See beyond the price tags we carry. And if they are gods? Then we shall be Prometheus. Representing ourselves (not the movement as a whole), we bring this call for revolution. We want freedom for all, without regards for identity, because we are all people, and because no other reason should be needed. However, this freedom has been largely taken from the people, and slowly made to trickle down, whenever we get angry. Money, it has been said, has taken over politics. In truth, we say, money has always been part of the capitalist political system. A system based on the existence of have and have nots, where inequality is inherent to the system, will inevitably lead to a situation where the haves find a way to rule, whether by the sword or by the dollar. We agree that we need to see election reform. However, the election reform proposed ignores the causes which allowed such a system to happen. Some will readily blame the federal reserve, but the political system has been beholden to political machinations of the wealthy well before its founding. We need to address the core facts: these corporations, even if they were unable to compete in the electoral arena, would still remain control of society. They would retain economic control, which would allow them to retain political control. Term limits would, again, not solve this, as many in the political class already leave politics to find themselves as part of the corporate elites. We need to retake the freedom that has been stolen from the people, altogether. If you agree that freedom is the right to communicate, to live, to be, to go, to love, to do what you will without the impositions of others, then you might be one of us. If you agree that a person is entitled to the sweat of their brows, that being talented at management should not entitle others to act like overseers and overlords, that all workers should have the right to engage in decisions, democratically, then you might be one of us. If you agree that freedom for some is not the same as freedom for all, and that freedom for all is the only true freedom, then you might be one of us. If you agree that power is not right, that life trumps property, then you might be one of us. If you agree that state and corporation are merely two sides of the same oppressive power structure, if you realize how media distorts things to preserve it, how it pits the people against the people to remain in power, then you might be one of us. And so we call on people to act We call for protests to remain active in the cities. Those already there, to grow, to organize, to raise consciousnesses, for those cities where there are no protests, for protests to organize and disrupt the system. We call for workers to not only strike, but seize their workplaces collectively, and to organize them democratically. We call for students and teachers to act together, to teach democracy, not merely the teachers to the students, but the students to the teachers. To seize the classrooms and free minds together. We call for the unemployed to volunteer, to learn, to teach, to use what skills they have to support themselves as part of the revolting people as a community. We call for the organization of people's assemblies in every city, every public square, every township. We call for the seizure and use of abandoned buildings, of abandoned land, of every property seized and abandoned by speculators, for the people, for every group that will organize them. We call for a revolution of the mind as well as the body politic. এরপর থেকে তাদের আন্দোলন ধারাবাহিকভাবে চলছে। শুধু নিউ ইয়র্ক না যুক্তরাষ্ট্রসহ বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের বিভিন্ন শহরে এই আন্দোলন ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। যে আগুন জ্বালিয়ে গিয়েছিল তিউনিসিয়ার এক তরুন বুয়োজিজি যেই আগুনে জ্বলেছিল পুরো মধ্যপ্রাচ্য সেউ আগুনে জ্বলছে বিশ্ব পুঁজিবাদ-সাম্রাজ্যবাদে তীর্থভূমি খোদ যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। এখানেই শেষ নয়, গত ১৫ই অক্টোবর সারা বিশ্বের প্রায় ৮২টি দেশের ৯৫০ টিরও বেশি শহরে পুঁজিবাদ বিরোধী বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশ হয়েছে।
