গ্লোবালাইজেশন বা বিশ্বায়ণ

The Aryan invasion in India led to a caste system which divided the people in such a way that many of our present day ills, economic and social deprivation, and non-development may be traced back to these unfortunate actions of the then society leaders. At that time the whole society was divided into four groups based on activities so that each group can specialise and perform the specified tasks more efficiently. Thus 'Brahmin' were to take the task of acquiring 'higher' knowledge, which included both religion and science. Agriculture and making of gadgets like metal products and pottery, etc., which are essentially engineering or technology, were left to the 'Shudra', who were eventually placed at the bottom-most stratum. There were intermediate groups for fighting and trade. The Brahmins possibly argued that such division would give the maximum benefit to the collective human society in the shortest possible time. However, this division was also linked to a status scheme, both in terms of economic gains and social honour. Thus, in addition to the caste system it created which demeaned all human values, a distance was created between knowledge and its application, between science and technology. Scientific study of earthly materials and their utilisation for the benefit of mankind was considered non-science and non-religious. This is one of the major causes that we in the Indian subcontinent remained so backward in science and technology and in their application to all spheres of life in spite of having a leading position in knowledge in the ancient times. On another count, think on the argument placed by the promoters of Globalisation. Can we not smell the same division in the name of EFFICIENCY?
